Airnorth proud sponsor of Million Dollar Fish Event: Celebrating community and achievement in the Northern Territory

Airnorth has been proudly sponsoring the Northern Territory’s prestigious Million Dollar Fish event since 2021. As a long-standing supporter of community initiatives and tourism development, Airnorth is honoured to contribute to an event that showcases the unique beauty and bounty of the Top End.

The Million Dollar Fish competition, now in its ninth year, captivates anglers from around the world with the promise of landing the elusive tagged barramundi worth a staggering $1 million. This year, history was made as Keegan Payne, a teenager from the NT town of Katherine, reeled in the coveted prize on the Katherine River. Mr. Payne’s remarkable achievement marks the first time in the competition’s history that a territory angler has secured the top prize.

Airnorth recognises the significance of events like Million Dollar Fish in fostering community pride and driving tourism to the Northern Territory. By sponsoring this event, Airnorth reaffirms its commitment to supporting local initiatives that showcase the natural wonders and cultural richness of the north. As a vital partner in the region’s tourism industry, Airnorth is dedicated to connecting travellers with unforgettable experiences and contributing to the economic prosperity of the communities we serve.

In addition to celebrating the success of the Million Dollar Fish event, Airnorth extends heartfelt congratulations to Keegan Payne for his remarkable achievement. As the first local angler to claim the million-dollar prize, Mr. Payne’s accomplishment exemplifies the talent and resilience of Northern Territory residents. Airnorth wishes him all the best as he embarks on this exciting new chapter, including his plans to support his family.
