Gove Locals Fare

Affordable year-round travel for Gove residents

Since 2019, Airnorth has proudly partnered with the Nhulunbuy Corporation to deliver the Locals Fare program, recognising the importance of affordable, reliable air travel for people living and working in remote communities.

Over the years, the program has continued through changing market conditions, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting residents with access to essential travel for health, family, work and everyday life. While the aviation environment has evolved, Airnorth has remained focused on maintaining year-round connectivity and absorbing costs where needed to ensure the program remains accessible for locals.

To date, more than 1,500 local residents have accessed the Locals Fare, helping them stay connected to Darwin and beyond. The program continues to play an important role in supporting community wellbeing, mobility and opportunity — and we encourage eligible residents to register and take advantage of this long-standing local benefit.

Eligibility

The Gove Locals Fare is available to:

  • Permanent residents of Gove, Yirrakala and Ski Beach and surrounding eligible areas
  • Proof of residency required
  • Travel must originate in Gove
How to Book
  • Register for the Gove Locals Fare by emailing the following information to: localsfare@airnorth.com.au
    • Your full name and up to five household residents that live within the same home
    • Your date of birth along with all other registering residents
    • Phone number
    • Email address
    • Unit/House number
    • Street name
    • Location
    • Postcode
  • When registering please provide proof of residential address to the email. This could be a driver’s license, rates notice, tenancy agreement
  • Once approved, our Customer Contact Centre will email you a unique Locals Fare registration number
How to Book
  • All Airnorth Locals Fare bookings must be made via the Airnorth Customer Contact Centre
  • Bookings must be completed at least 30 days prior to travel
  • Reservations and payment must be completed at the same time

  • Return travel only; one-way or multi-city travel is not permitted
  • Travel must originate in Gove
  • Subject to availability with a capped allocation per flight
  • One change permitted outside 30 days prior to departure at no charge
  • Changes within 30 days subject to Airnorth standard change fees
  • Child discounts do not apply; infants without a seat travel free
