THE LOCALS FARE

In conjunction with Nhulunbuy Corporation and Darwin International Airport, Airnorth is delighted to introduce the new Locals Fare trial program available to residents of Gove, Yirrkala and Ski Beach (Gunyangara). The program will be rolled out on 5 December 2019 and has been designed to allow local residents to access return airfares travelling to Darwin at a price of $398* per person when booked 30 days or more from departure date. Residents must register with Airnorth and once validated will be able to qualify for up to 6 return flights per person each year that are subject to availability and can be used at anytime with no restrictions to black-out dates.

“The Locals Fare program was created for the residents of our remote communities in mind. Gove has been selected for the trial, as we aim to provide residents with more cost-effective air travel options to attend events, family reunions and major city attractions” said Airnorth CEO Daniel Bowden. “We have worked closely with Darwin International Airport and Nhulunbuy Corporation to develop the program and deliver a fare that would benefit the local residents of Gove wishing to travel to Darwin.”

Airnorth operate daily jet flights between Gove and Darwin each week and work closely with the Nhulunbuy Corporation to deliver a schedule that meets the needs of travellers in the region.

“The Nhulunbuy Corporation is pleased to support this initiative to assist with providing more affordable air fares for all locals”, said Nhulunbuy Corporation CEO Ali Mills.

In addition to the Locals Fare program, Airnorth has an ongoing commitment to the communities we serve; providing support in the form of sponsorships and in-kind donations to assist with community programs and initiatives that are in line with the Airnorth’s vision and values. Sponsorships vary from a flight to be raffled or auctioned for fundraising initiatives, to providing discounted travel for school groups, sports teams, charitable organisations, etc. In 2019, Airnorth proudly sponsored the following Gove organisations; BMX Club, Gove Golf Country Club, Nhulunbuy Fishing Club and the Nhulunbuy High School.

Airnorth is committed to supporting the communities that it operates to and from and will continue to support the 20 destinations that it operates to every day.

To be eligible for the Locals Fare program, participants must reside in Gove and provide proof of residency. Once registered, Gove residents must make all bookings direct through the Airnorth reservations department.
