SANTA TAKES FLIGHT WITH AIRNORTH SPREADING CHRISTMAS CHEER IN REMOTE NT

Following over two decades of tradition; the Airnorth Santa Flight visited remote communities in Elcho Island and Milingimbi with one mission: to spread Christmas cheer. Airnorth visited the local primary schools in each destination and is proud to partner with Coles Northlakes for a fourth consecutive year, returning partners’ McDonald’s Darwin restaurants, and new addition, Mix104.9 Darwin delivering fresh fruits, candy canes, footballs, and toys to the children of these communities.

“Our annual Santa Run always serves as a reminder of the importance of community and this year with many of our more remote regions experiencing even greater isolation as a result of COVID-19, we felt it was especially important to continue our tradition of delivering Santa and mix it up by asking our partners to join us as we spread a bit of holiday magic in 2021,” said Airnorth CEO Daniel Bowden.

Airnorth is pleased that McDonalds was back on board this year and graciously donated AFL balls, caps, socks, and drink bottles as gifts for the local school children.

“It’s a great way to extend beyond just the Darwin region where our stores are located and get to spread the Christmas joy to kids in our regional communities,” said Phillip Coleman of McDonalds.

Coles has again committed to sponsoring over 80kg fresh fruit this year.

Mix104.9 has been an integral part with making this event successful as they drive the message out for gift donations and offering their space as a drop off point.

“Christmas is a time when it doesn’t matter where you came from or what your social status is. If we can bring a little bit of joy to a community and help put a smile on a kid’s face that otherwise might not have had the experience to see the plane land with Santa is an amazing opportunity to bring great Christmas joy to everyone,” said Mix104.9’s Ryan Khay.

Airnorth greatly appreciates all their supporters: Coles, McDonalds, Mix104.9, Shepherdson College, and Milingimbi School.
