NGO Travel Program - Airfare and Excess Baggage Waivers
Airnorth has a strong commitment in supporting Timor-Leste as a developing nation. We therefore offer support to official accredited / recognised not-for-profit charities and non-government organisations (NGOs) who carry out legitimate humanitarian activities to assist the Timorese community.
Airnorth are pleased to offer support in two formats:
1. Airfares and Excess Baggage Waiver
Airnorth offers all recognised NGOs undertaking humanitarian activities in Timor-Leste the opportunity to access Airnorth NGO airfares between Darwin and Dili. These airfares provide a similar level of flexibility to Airnorth’s fully flexible Air Flex fares at a discounted rate. Recognised NGOs who successfully apply for these airfares will also receive an automatic approval for a 10 kilogram excess baggage waiver on their Darwin to Dili sectors. Baggage waivers are not applicable for Dili to Darwin sectors.
This is a one-off application where successful applicants will be provided with an NGO profile number that is required to be quoted directly with our reservations team at the time of booking to validate this discounted flexible fare and automatic excess baggage waiver.
The NGO profile can only be utilised by the nominated authorised NGO staff member/s. This includes, but is not limited to; creating and paying for a booking, making changes to a booking and making changes to the profile. Any requests made by a non-authorised representative will automatically be declined.
All NGO airfare requests must be made in writing by completing Sections 1 and 2 of the NGO Fare Request Form and by providing adequate evidence of registered / accredited NGO status (see FAQs for more details on appropriate forms of evidence).
This form must be submitted a minimum of five working days (Monday to Friday) prior to the scheduled Darwin to Dili flight departures to ensure adequate processing time.
2. Excess Baggage Waiver only
Airnorth offers a 10kgs excess baggage waiver to volunteers of accredited / recognised not-for-profit charities and NGOs travelling from Darwin to Dili that are carrying donations to be distributed in Timor-Leste only and not for the carriage of personal items/luggage. These baggage waivers are available only for the Darwin to Dili one-way sector of the trip. Baggage waivers are not applicable for Dili to Darwin sectors.
All excess baggage waiver requests must be made in writing by completing Sections 1 and 2 of the current Excess Baggage Waiver Request Form downloadable on this page (latest update as of March 2015) and by providing the required paperwork for all requests. Baggage waiver applications of previous versions of the Excess Baggage Wavier Request Form will not be accepted.
Unless the organisation is booking under their Airnorth NGO Profile number (see point #1 above), it is a requirement that our Excess Baggage Waiver form is completed and submitted with the required supporting documentation every time an organisation makes a booking, regardless of how often their staff/voulnteers are travelling to Dili. Refer to FAQs for more details on appropriate forms of evidence.
*Excess baggage waivers are only available for official volunteers of the NGO as stated on the required NGO letter validating the below passenger/s is travelling as an representative of the NGO on official accredited / recognised not-for-profit charity or NGO business (see Section 2 of the Excess Baggage Waiver Request Form). Please note it is not available for travel companions, family/friends of the NGO passenger or for children of 11 years of age or under. Only requests accompanied with this required letter will be considered. No exceptions will apply.
*All requests and the required supporting documentation must be forwarded to email@example.com.
All excess baggage waiver requests must be forwarded a minimum of five working days (Monday to Friday) prior to the scheduled Darwin to Dili flight departures to ensure adequate processing time. Any requests received less than five (5) working days prior to departure will not be considered.
