Broome is one of Western Australia’s most popular holiday destinations, often referred to as the pearl of the North West.

Broome is home to the world-famous white sands of Cable Beach. It is also the southern gateway to the wilderness region of the Kimberley.

Cable Beach

With 22 kilometres of pristine white sand, Cable Beach is ranked among the world’s top beaches and boasts many world class holiday resorts.

Cable Beach takes its name from the telegraph cable that was laid between Broome and Java in Indonesia in 1889.  Cable Beach is now a popular holiday resort for swimming, relaxing in the sun, strolling at sunset, camel treks and pearl lugger sailing tours.

Broome holiday highlights

In and around Broome are many things to see and do to that will make your Broome holiday a memorable experience.

Cultural Chinatown

Once a bustling hub of pearl sheds, billiard saloons, entertainment houses, opium dens and brothels, Chinatown is now home to fine pearl showrooms and retail outlets. It also has one of the most diverse populations in Western Australia, adding an exotic blend of culture and cuisine to your holiday experience. Drop into one of Chinatown’s sidewalk cafes or restaurants and treat yourself to a taste of east-meets-west cuisine.
